A Sea of Information
We are currently living in an age where the constant stream of breaking news and digital noise often clouds our ability to hear the Spirit. To navigate this effectively, we must learn to distinguish between the urgent distractions of the world and the steady direction of God.
It is easy to mistake the velocity of information for the proximity of truth. When global conflicts, economic shifts, and cultural debates cycle through our screens every few minutes, our natural tendency is to consume it all in hopes of feeling informed or prepared. Yet, the sheer volume of content often leads to a state of spiritual paralysis rather than clarity. If we spend our entire day reacting to headlines, we leave no room for the quiet work of discernment. As you look at your own habits, are you currently using your time to seek wisdom, or are you simply cycling through anxieties that you have no authority to resolve? We are instructed to be wise in how we occupy our mental space, guarding our hearts against the chaotic pull of digital saturation. This is not about hiding from reality; it is about choosing to anchor your perspective in a narrative that is far older and more stable than the 24-hour news cycle. Ask yourself, if you were to disconnect from all digital noise for a full day, would your inner life remain calm, or would you find yourself restless and searching for a distraction? Moving forward, consider setting boundaries on your intake. Being informed is a responsibility, but being overwhelmed is a choice. We are called to stand on firm ground, not on shifting sand, and that requires a deliberate, daily decision to step back, breathe, and re-center our focus on the things that are eternal. When we minimize the noise, the small, still voice of guidance becomes audible once more.
Psalm 46:10 · Philippians 4:6-7
This means you should curate your information intake to protect your peace and spiritual sensitivity. By intentionally carving out periods of silence, you allow yourself the space to discern God’s direction rather than being swept away by the reactive currents of the modern world.
